This song humbly portrays a humble vulnerability in the weakness of our flesh but the Lord is an anchor to our soul. This is not stated in a fatalistic way but relationally as it is a prayer from the heart asking God to be that in our lives. I love the stated aim of deeper well in keeping together that tension of self expression and self denial, naturally antithetical but harmonious when Christ is our life. Then self expression is the expression of Christ through us.
